Description
This publication serves as notice of intent to procure services for the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Santa Cruz Tiburon Laboratory located in Santa Cruz, CA on a sole source basis with University of CA, Santa Cruz. The government intends to acquire services using FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Proposed vendor will provide technical support to produce genetic data and analyses in support of project to create standardized set of intergenerational genetic tags for monitoring and evaluation of Chinook salmon, Oncorhynchus tshawytscha, and steelhead rainbow trout, O.mykiss. The genetic tagging system will be applied to guide restoration efforts in California's San Joaquin River as well as throughout California. The project will provide data on the specific single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers that are most informative for identifying salmon and trout that recolonize the San Joaquin River system and/or are used as broodstock in supplementation efforts employing artificial propagation. The project will also provide approximately 1,000,000 genetic tags that can be recovered in future monitoring and evaluation efforts. The government intends to negotiate a firm- fixed price contract with a period of performance that will start from date of award through Aug 31, 2010. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 15 days of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government.
