Description
Description: RECOVERY ACTION. FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. DUNS 007113228. The modification addresses the following work: The work is for instrumentation equipment to update, upgrade, or expand capabilities of the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) Facility to conduct leading-edge science and serve the technical needs of users in furtherance of leading edge science. CINT is a joint Sandia National Laboratory/Los Alamos National Laboratory user facility; these instrumentations (low pressure chemical vapor deposition diffusion furnace and multi-functional interfacial force microscope) will be sited at the CINT core facility site in Albuquerque. The action is other than fixed price because work is assigned to the contractor (Sandia Corporation) through the issuance of WAs is pursuant to the terms and conditions of the prime management and operating contract, which was awarded as a cost reimbursement type contract due to technical and cost uncertainties in contract performance. Costs cannot be estimated with sufficient accuracy to use any type of fixed price contract as the exact nature and extent of the scientific work is uncertain. Sandia was selected by DOE to participate in this American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) work due to the expertise at Sandia National Laboratories in the subject matter where CINT is located. The work falls under the prime contract statement of work paragraph 3.4.1 which states: “The Contractor shall conduct research in the areas of chemical sciences, geosciences, engineering sciences, computational sciences, biological sciences, nanoscience, materials sciences, including scientifically tailored materials and mathematics, advancing the state of science for the benefit of the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration. The use of a separate fixed price award to Sandia Corporation for the WA is inappropriate because this is issued under an existing cost reimbursable contract.” NOTE: This action is an awarded modification that recognizes Work Authorization no. KC/AL08/9/ARRA-1, Rev 1 issued under Management and Operating Contract number DE-AC04-94AL85000. This action is funded by Recovery Act dollars. Place of Contract Performance: Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM Site Office Contracting Point of Contact(s): JoAnn Wright Contracting Officer jwright@doeal.gov Phone: 505-845-4096
