- RECOVERY ACTION. FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. DUNS 785627931. The modification addresses the following work: “Nuclear Reaction Modeling for Actinides” (joint Lawrence Livermore National Lab (LLNL)/Los Alamos National Lab (LANL) project). The LLNL will develop a new technique to calculate the cross sections on actinides, in which the transition probability of fission is calculated based on a realistic multi-dimensional potential surface. The microscopic model will also be applied to dynamical fission processes to calculate fission-fragment properties and prompt fission neutron spectra “Improved Prompt and Delayed Decay Spectra for Advanced Fuels”. The LLNL will characterize the time-dependent radiation emitted during the burning advanced fuels, including fuels from fast reactors, plutonium, and reusable spent fuels; and LLNL will benchmark these decay spectra through a combination of modeling, and new and existing measurements. The contractor will be working at Lawrence Livermore. The action is other than fixed price because it is in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation 5.705(b), the rationale for pricing this action “Other than Fixed Price” is due to the fact that LLNS operates under a cost re-imbursement Management and Operating (M&O) contract and all costs are fully recovered. The other basis for Other than Fixed Price is because this is a Research and Development type work authorization and is therefore cost-reimbursable. NOTE: This action is awarded under Modification no. M096 that recognizes Work Authorization no. KB/NS50/9/ARRA-2 issued under M&O Contract number DE-AC52-07NA27344.
