Description
This is a modification to combined solicitation/synopsis published on 21 July 2009. The purpose of this modification is to provide the following information and to answer the posed questions. Award will be made to technically acceptable low offer. 1. What is the number of servers running Windows XP that will be attaching to the SAN directly? None. 2. It appears that this solicitation is looking at one single array. Is it the intent of this Solicitation to include Storage replication software that provides a simple, intuitive GUI-based interface and scripting environment for creating, running, and managing storage replication jobs using controller based, snapshots, clones and remote mirroring? Yes, remote storage replication capability (array to array) is a potential future requirement. 3. Is it the intent of the Government to acquire all HBAs with PCI-X form factor even though some of the indicated Servers may be a different form factor other than what is indicated within this Solicitation? Yes, the government only requires PCI-X form factor from this solicitation. 4. Would the government make DADMS access available? DADMS is only accessible to government or contractors with direct government oversight. If vendor does not have DADMS access, just identify exactly what software (including version) is being offered in their proposal, and the government will check FAM and DADMS status. 5. One vendor stated that they can provide FC drives but that there is a trend toward newer SAS based hardware. Would this be acceptable for you needs? No, FC drives are required. 6. How many people this SAN would be supporting or the size of the location where it is going? This SAN will support a website with over 49,000 user accounts. SAN should be housed in a single standard size communications rack and will be located in an air-conditioned computer room with no raised floor. 7. What type of security requirements will be needed? SAN will be situated in a controlled environment with only authorized access. SAN will have no direct network attachment. User access to attached servers will only be at application level, no direct data access. SAN must support standard Windows based security features. SAN management interface must be password controlled. 8. How do vendors obtain a DADMS ID? DADMS is only accessible to government or contractors with direct government oversight. If vendor does not have DADMS access, just identify exactly what software (including version) is being offered in their proposal, and the government will check FAM and DADMS status. 9. Is there a requested drive size & speed? 10k rpm vs 15k rpm? To meet the 40TB capacity requirement, 450GB is preferred. 15k rpm is also preferred. 10. Is this configuration for 1 location? Yes, one location. 11. Of the 48 fibre channel host connections, how many should be available in the initial configuration? Minimum of 20. 12. The Rack requirements mention nothing larger than 24 inches wide. The standard size of IT racks is 19 in. Are you looking for the standard 19 in rack? Or a 24 in rack? Yes, we require a standard 19-inch rack. External dimension of the rack should be no more than 24 inches wide. 13. What kind of personnel security do vendors need to have to go onsite to do the SAN installation/training? Vendor personnel do not need a security clearance. They must be a U.S citizen. The closing date is being extended to 24 Aug 09. All additional questions must be submitted in writing via email to erica.aragon@navy.mil no later than 12 Aug 09.
