- RECOVERY--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is soliciting contractors to replace roller chains at the Knightville Dam in Huntington, MA. The work of this project includes but is not limited to the following: Replace/rebuild roller chains located on three Broome type slide gates located in the intake tower at Knightville Dam. The fabricated steel gates are approximately 70 years old and are operated by stationary wire rope hoists. Gate movement is facilitated by roller chains, which are mounted on the sides of the gates and covered by chain guards. One of these chains has fallen off gate 3, and two new chains are required for that gate. Rebuild the 5 remaining chains using existing rollers and links, and providing new pins designed to accommodate retaining ring fasteners. (Existing pins are riveted.) Note that only one gate may be worked on at a time; the other two gates must remain operational. The extra chain will be stored on site as spare. A detail drawing of the existing chain components is available on site. The estimated cost of this procurement is between $100,000 and $500,000. This solicitation will be available on or about 21 August 2009 and will be available for downloading by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities website (http://www.fbo.gov). Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests will be accepted. Registrants are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list. This procurement is issued as a 100% small business set-aside. The applicable NAICS code is 238290 with a Small Business Size Standard of $13,000,000. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District.
