- The U. S. Department of Commerce, NOAA intends to solicit for purchase of 50 each, Optical Encoder, IAW Drawing No. 14636-5017, Rev D, NSN: 7050-01-388-0992; ASN: R400-86A1. The encoder is used in an antenna positioned operating in a sheltered environment. This item supports National Weather Service (NWS) NEXRAD program. The encoder was originally manufactured by DRS Surveillance Support Systems. There are several suggested sources of supply that the NWS and DRS have approved their product. The names of the companies are as follows: BEI Motion Systems Co, Inc. Little Rock, AR; ITEK Measurement Systems, Newton, MA; Sequential Electronic System, Elmsford, NY; and Farrand Optical Components & Instruments, Valhalla, NY. These items will be delivered to the National Logistics Support Center located in Kansas City, MO. The intended procurement is for supplies for which the government intends to acquire under the guidelines of FAR Part 12, Commercial Items. Delivery will be FOB Destination basis. A first article may be required. Interested parties may to respond to this announcement within calendar 10 days after its publication. Interested firms should submit in writing, its name, address, point of contact, telephone number, business size and a brief statement regarding its capability to provide the specified equipment. Also include the name, telephone number, and point of contact for businesses or other government agency to which it has previously provided the item. In order to receive the complete Request for Quotation package, interested firms may send an email request to karen.l.christian@noaa.gov or send a fax request with an email address to telephone number 816-274-6952, ATTN: Karen Christian. Failure to provide the required information may deem your request non-responsive. The government reserves the right to solicit quotes based on receipt of affirmative responses to this notice. The NAICS code for this action is 334419. This requirement shall be considered a 100% small business set-aside. All responsible sources may submit a quote which will be considered by the Agency. All contractors doing business with the Central Region Acquisition Division (CRAD) must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) or certification with the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA).
