MAP WAGE DETERMINATION ALDER PROJECT DRAWINGS ROAD MAINTENANCE SPECS SCHEDULE OF ITEMS SOLICITATION SYNOPSIS ALDER FUEL REDUCTION STEWARDSHIP PROJECT Description of Work- This solicitation and any resultant contract is a stewardship project in accordance with Section 323 of Public Law 108-7 (16 U.S.C. 2104 Note, as revised February 28, 2003 to reflect sec. 323 of J.J. Res. 2 as enrolled), the Consolidated Appropriations Resolution, 2003, amending Public Law 105-277, sec. 347. This is a request for proposals Service acquisition that has been tailored to fit the Government’s method of trading goods for services. An estimated 54,218 Tons (7,989 M board feet) of sawtimber is marked or otherwise designated for cutting on 1,525 acres. There are 6 mandatory and 3 optional stewardship projects. Mandatory Stewardship projects are: small tree thinning and removal on 1,525 acres, brush cutting and machine piling on 790 acres, mastication of plantation on 36 acres, tillage of skid roads in RCA’s on 10.2 acres, placement of 23 barrier rocks, and road maintenance on 44.15 miles. Optional Stewardship Projects are: Mastication of plantations and brush fields on 42 acres, mastication and pre-commercial thinning in plantations on 295 aces and precommercial thinning in plantations on 236 acres. Treatment areas consist of natural stands and ponderosa pine plantations. Thinning will be accomplished through cutting of individually designated trees. Reduction of hazardous fuels will be accomplished by the removal and/or treatment of thinned trees, slash, and brush. Project Location - The majority of the project area (9,350 acres) is situated approximately 16 miles East of Pollock Pines, Ca. The legal locations are: T.9N., R15E., Section 2; T10N, R15E, Sections, 9-11, 13-15, 17-30 and 33-35; Mount Diablo Base and Meridian (MDB&M); All treatment areas are between elevations of approximately 5200 and 6800 feet. Work unit boundaries are delineated on the ground with three horizontal Yellow paint stripes on trees facing into the unit and/or blue flagging. The solicitation is expected to be issued August 4, 2009. Estimated Bid Open Date September 3, 2009.
