- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source firm fixed priced purchase order to Genetix Ltd, 56 Roland Street, Suite 106, Boston, MA 02129 for a quantity of 1 ClonePix FL System. Due to the highly technical nature of this equipment and proprietary nature of this equipment, Genetix Ltd is the only responsible vendor. ClonePix FL offers a fast, cost efficient solution for screening and selection of cell lines when generating monoclonal antibodies or other recombinant proteins. Compared to the conventional "limited dilution" technique, ClonePix FL, screens more clones, more rapidly, and ensures accurate selection of the most effective secretors. An attempt to locate alternative sources was made and resulted in technology that did not have the ability to spot-pick and transfer clones. This is not a feasible alternative since it will not improve our current selection system and introduce additional labor without any technological benefit. Only one responsible source and no other services will satisfy agency requirements. The proposed contract action is for commercial items which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR subpart 27.4. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement.
