Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Cincinnati, OH has a requirement for an energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) detector as an attachment for a NIOSH-owned Hitachi S3000-N scanning electron microscope. The CDC intends to award a single Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order in accordance with FAR Part 13. The EDS detector must satisfy the following requirements to be considered for acquisition. • SEM detecting unit with super ultra thin window for detection of all elements down to and including Beryllium.(Z=4) • Active detector area of 10mm2. • Resolution > 135 eV • Detector conforms to ISO 15632:2002 specifying performance at productive count rates. • Peak to background > 15,000:1. • Ability to respond at 1000 CPS with a time constant of 100 sec • Compatibility with Scanning Electron Microscope: Hitachi S3000-N. • Appropriate interface with electron microscope. • Software to run EDS detector. • Ability to perform live spectral mapping. • Accompanying PC workstation • Accompanying monitor (preferably flat panel LCD). • Warranty: minimum 12 months from date of installation • Installation of equipment and training of NIOSH personnel in its use. • Adequate technical support of long-term use of the equipment. • Credit for trade-in of TEM ‘Sapphire' EDS detector.
