Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. ONE (1)TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FORHURCO VM10 VERTICAL MACHINING CENTER. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) intheir quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and awritten amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to respond to vendor questions. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended.Q1. I have seen the specifications. Question is control mentioned in specification isfrom Hurco only. We use a different control. Could I still submit a bid or NASA isstrict with control? A1. We are looking for a Hurco control for this acquisition.Q2. Line Item 2, Winmax Classic Package: Requested Quantity is 2. Only 1 of thesesoftware packages is offered on the machine; as well, it is installed on the machineduring installation. A second package is not possible to install on the machine, orprovide as a standalone software package. Please clarify the need for Quantity of 2.A2. Line item 2 should be for quantity of 2 as we are looking to support an existing needfor offline programming. If the vendor wants to exclude the 2nd seat from his quote hecan do so as this is an accessory item.Q3. Line Item 4, Work light: One (1) Work light is a standard feature (included in basepricing) on the machine. Is this line item a request for a second worklight?A3. Line item 4 should be for a single work light. However, the government does notobject to a second light.Q4.Miscellaneous, Add'l Information: There is no listed item/requirement for any mannerof chip removal (i.e. chip auger or chip conveyor). No chip removal mechanism comes withthe machine as standard. Should either or both of the chip removal options be includedin this quotation?A4.Miscellaneous item-No chip conveyor is requested for this machine at this time. However, the government does not object to a chip conveyor.Q5. In several of the line items, there is mentioned removal of some machine componentsin order to fit through facility pathway (s). What is the minimum portal/doorwaydimensions of concern, height and width?A5. The minimum door opening would be 72" wide By 96" tall.Q6. Is NASA/GSFC looking for a High Speed Machining Center or are they looking for ONLY aHurco Machining Center.A6. We are looking for the Hurco control with its conversational and G-code capabilities. We would prefer the HURCO machining center however if the vendor has a machinesubmission that meets or exceeds HURCO capabilities we can look at it for technicalacceptability.Q7. You mention Z axis motor removal, what size is the opening go thru? Is there aweight limitation. Please advise.A7. The opening is 72 wide By 96 tall. There is no limitation for weight as a machinethis size that will fit through that opening weight will not be a factor and it will workon our floors.Q8. Can an equivalent machine be quoted? A8. You are welcome to submit your machine if they you like and it will be evaluated fromthe technical perspective to see if they meet the requirements.
