Description
Quotes are being solicited by the USDA, Forest Service from qualified small businesses for the Little Pistol Bridge Removal project located on Pistol Creek in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness on the Salmon-Challis National Forest, Idaho. This project includes the demolition and removal of a 45 foot steel trail bridge with a 4 inch pressure treated wooden deck. All materials resulting from the demolition of the bridge are to be removed from government administered lands and disposed of by the contractor. Pressure treated wood, along with all steel components must be removed, disposal by burning or burying will not be allowed. Access to the bridge site is by trail from the Indian Creek Airstrip (Nearest Public Airstrip), or one of several trails originating at the wilderness boundary near Landmark, Idaho. Material to be removed will need to be either packed to the airstrip for transfer to aircraft or to one of the wilderness trailheads. Wilderness prohibitions on motorized, mechanized equipment apply to this project and all work will be limited to hand tools and non-wheeled methods of conveyance. Use of an oxy-acetylene torch is allowable. Approximate weights of materials to be removed are based on material estimates used in the construction of the bridge. Estimated weight of steel and hardware is 5,000 pounds. Estimated weight of pressure treated lumber to be removed is 7,700 pounds. This requirement is being solicited as a Request for Quote using simplified acquisition procedures. The approximate start work date is September 15, 2009. Quotes are due at 3:00 p.m. MST, August 31, 2009. The solicitation will be available on approximately August 10, 2009 and may be downloaded from this site at that time. All future information about this acquisition, including amendments, will be distributed solely through this site. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. Vendors are required to be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) http:www.ccr.gov and shall complete the On-Line Registration and Certifications Application (ORCA) http://orca.bpn.gov.. All responsible sources may submit a response to this announcement which will be considered by this agency.
