- This request for proposal will be issued to obtain a firm fixed price and cost type contract for engineering services. Th e primary purpose of this task is to provide engineering services for medium caliber gun and ammunition feed systems to maintain and improve weapon system reliability, maintainability, and supportability. In support of M61A1, M61A2, and GAU-8 gun and ammunition feed systems. At the request of the Aircraft Guns Engineering Flight the contractor will perform tasks related to medium caliber gun system reliability. E fforts shall include problem identification studies, product deficiency studies, failure histories and reliability studies, technical data package updates, solid modeling, finite element analysis, developing and testing prototypes in support of engineering analysis and training, and supporting medium caliber user requests. The only approved source for this item is General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products. See Note 22. Original notice is amended to add a statement that all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. A copy of the solicitation has been posted at FedBizOpps. For a copy of the Performance Work Statement (PWS), offerors should contact either of the points of contact listed below. Requests should include their JCP certification number from DLIS at http://www.dlis.dla.mil/jcp/. The response date for receipt of proposals is changed to 21 Aug 2009.
