- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for a micro-hardness tester. The mico-hardness tester must have the following salient features:1. Ability to perform optical inspection of the hardness indentations at 100, 200, and500 magnifications with out removal/replacement of any objectives. Equipment must alsosupport Knoop and Vickers indenters with three objectives simultaneously so no indentersor objectives need to be subsituted for that ability to test in both modes.2. 10-100gm load capability, with ability to test at 1gm increments throughout thatrange.3. Vickers and Knoop hardness test measurement capability with convrsion to allappropriate Rockwell test scales.4. Ability to accommodate changes in objectives and load cells allowing changes inmagnification and test loads to a larger range if required at a later date.5. Ability to upgrade fully or semi-automated operational mode in the future if required.6.
