Description
NASA/GSFC has a requirement for a micro-hardness tester.The mico-hardness tester must have the following salient features:1. Ability to perform optical inspection of the hardness indentations at 100, 200, and500 magnifications with out removal/replacement of any objectives. Equipment must alsosupport Knoop and Vickers indenters with three objectives simultaneously so no indentersor objectives need to be subsituted for that ability to test in both modes.2. 10-100gm load capability, with ability to test at 1gm increments throughout thatrange.3. Vickers and Knoop hardness test measurement capability with convrsion to allappropriate Rockwell test scales.4. Ability to accommodate changes in objectives and load cells allowing changes inmagnification and test loads to a larger range if required at a later date.5. Ability to upgrade fully or semi-automated operational mode in the future if required.6. Delivery within 4-6 weeks of receipt of order.This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the onlysolicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are beingrequested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to usethe On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above orit may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the SimplifiedAcquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13.Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred)no later than July 25, 2009 to Janicea.L.McCree@nasa.gov. It is the quoter'sresponsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potentialquoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-lineRFQ and amendments (if any).An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B".Any referenced notes may be viewed at the following URLs link below.
