- Description
- The US Geological Survey, Great Lakes Science Center, Ann Arbor, MI owns and operates a fleet of 5 vessels to provide offshore work platforms for research projects. The Research Vessel Musky II operates on the open and inland waters of Lake Erie, travelling to various ports with the crew and staff berthing on board. The USGS has a requirement to improve the Musky II's watertight integrity, egress routes, and weathertight hatches. Specific projects include extending the pilot house, installing watertight closure in the machinery space, and installing a weathertight door in the aft pilot house bulkhead. Additionally, the Musky II requires installation of a fire and chemical alarm system. The performance period for the construction is dependent upon the Musky II's operational schedule but should be completed as soon as possible after contract award. Contractor will be required to coordinate construction schedule with the vessel project coordinators. Proposals are being requested under Request for Quotes 09ERQQ0499, which may be viewed on the Department of Interior Business Opportunities Web Page at http://ideasec.nbc.gov on or about July 30, 2009. Quotes will be due on or about August 10, 2009 (exact date/time to be provided in the solicitation). The anticipated award date is August 17, 2009. The NAICS code is 238350 with a small business size standard of $14.0 mil. This solicitation will be advertised for full and open competition. To be considered for contract award, interested parties must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration Database at http://www.ccr.gov. All vendors capable of performing the government's requirement and who have a valid Dun & Bradstreet Number (DUNS) are invited to submit quotes for this RFQ to the Contracting Officer, Kris Murray.
