- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a contract to Mt Sinai School of Medicine on a Fixed Price Basis to perform laboratory testing of Polycythemia Vera (PV) patient's blood specimens collected in a tri-county area of northeastern Pennsylvania. Mount Sinai School of Medicine is the only organization that can perform this work because they have archived specimens from all confirmed PV cases from the Pennsylvania cluster from previous work in that investigation. Those blood specimens are the basis for the proposed studies and do not exist elsewhere. Some of the patients in this sample have since died and thus the samples cannot be replaced or obtained by any other contractor. The North American Industry Classification Code is 541990. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, but all replies received within 15 days of publication will be considered. A determination not to compete based on responses received, and to proceed with a noncompetitive award is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
