- Description
- The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, Maryland, intends to negotiate an option year contract with three option years, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1 (b), with Fibergate, Inc. to supply a leasing and maintenance agreement of dark fiber cables connecting two nearby locations. The leasing and maintenance is being procured as a commercial item in accordance with the procedures in FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) and FAR Part 13 (Simplified Acquisition Procedures). The sole source determination is based on Fibergate being the original installers of the existing fiber cables. In addition to installing the fiber cables, Fibergate owns the existing fiber cables connecting USUHS to its other remote sites. Furthermore, award to another source will result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government. The period of performance for the required agreement commences on August 1, 2009 and ends July 31, 2010. This is not a request for quote. However, all interested parties may contact the Contract Specialist listed below. Sources interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide compelling evidence that they can provide the aforementioned leasing and maintenance agreement as specified. Additionally, a determination by the government not to compete this proposed contractual action based upon responses received is solely within the discretion of the government. Responses must be submitted electronically, via email, to tosin.abari@usuhs.mil. The deadline for the submittal of responses is July 21, 2009, 1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
