- This is a notice of intent to place an order with San Juan Towing and Marine Services, Incorporated on a sole source basis for rebuilding the engine of LCU 2017, vessel. The items to be acquired are listed as follows: (a) dockage; (b) harbor dues; (c) twenty (20) yard dumpster; (d) engine stores; (e) marine chemist; and (f) crane service and trucking. These items are for the removal, rebuilding and replacement of the port main engine on the USAV EL Caney where the carrier lies afloat in San Juan, Puerto Rico. No award will be made solely on the basis of this notice since a synopsis of intent to place an order cannot be considered a request for proposals/offers-- Responses to this notice will be used to determine whether bondafide competition exists and whether a request for quote is appropriate. No solicitation/quote documents exists and no telephone inquires will be accepted--written responses, if applicable, prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability to meet the requirement, must be received by this office within 15 calendar days after this notice -- If no affirmative responses are received within this time to determine that a comparable source more advantageous to the Government is available, an order will be placed with the above named vendor. A request for quote will not be considered an affirmative response.
