- Proposed Work: Chickamauga Lock Fabrication, painting and delivery of Miter Gates, Culvert Valves and Culvert Valve Bulkheads. Description of Work: ARRA funds are being used to fabricate steel Miter Gates, Culvert Valves, and Culvert Valve Bulkheads for the new Chickamauga Lock. This work will include all appurtenances required for assembly and installation. Components will be partially assembled, painted and delivered to TVAs Muscle Shoals Reservation in Muscle Shoals, AL. Some preparation of the site will be required to level and drain the area where the above components will be stored. Cribbing for temporary storage and containers for small parts are required. All parts will be labeled for inventory. Water access is available no more than one-half mile from the storage site. Fabrication, painting, and delivery of components and appurtenances as-well-as preparation of the storage site are the responsibility of the contractor. Approximate weights of the major components are listed below: Miter Gates (4): 2 lower @ 653,000 lbs each, 2 upper @ 246,000 lbs each Culvert Valves (4): 100,000 lbs each Culvert Valve Bulkheads (4): 24,000 lbs each Contractor will be responsible for all fabrication and transportation of finished materials to the project storage site.
