- The 554 ELSG/PNK is conducting market research to determine the optimum acquisition strategy for the procurement of maintenance srevices to overhaul and refurbish automated filing system carousels. This project supports the refurbishment of "NoWalk" Horizontal Carousel filing systems located in Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center/DPIRO. This section scans all Air Force civilian personnel records for the Official Personnel File (OPF) management program. The OPFs, after scanning, are stored in the Horizontal Carousels for storage and retrieval. The first No-Walk Horizontal Carousels were installed in the OPF section in 1996 and has not received major hardware overhaul and refurbishment to date. Refurbishment of the equipment is required due to building settlement which has caused the tracks to shift and become unlevel. As the carousels shift, the bins' rollers pop off, causing the tracks to bend and move due to the alignment and weight of the equipment. A comphrehensive overhaul and refurbishment is required to prevent a complete breakdown of ally systems and components.
