- Description
- Under this topic, the Government invites proposals to develop a fuel cell based auxiliary power unit (APU) that operates off 100% JP-8 Army logistic fuel (MIL-STD-83133F2); no blended fuels. The system developed shall include a DC/DC converter whose output is connected to the vehicle DC bus, to which the vehicle battery and alternator are also connected. The system must be water neutral; meaning all water requirements for the system (if any) must be met by internal water recovery with no external sources. The system must meet the specifications in identified in the topic itself and be at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5 by program end. The Government anticipates this APU to be used on multiple platforms, such as Abrams, Bradley, Medium Tactical Vehicle and/or future vehicles. The expected program duration is 36 months. This topic contains three option requirements. Upon successful completion of the initial program, one or more of three options may be exercised for an additional 12 to 36 months. FUNDING: The Government anticipates awarding up to 2 contracts. Funding is estimated at $5.25M per contract over three years for the base award. OPTIONS: Option 1: Funding is estimated at $8M per contract over three years. Option 2: Funding is estimated at $5.25M per contract over three years. Option 3: Funding is estimated at $300Kper contract over one year.
