Description
This opportunity is available only to the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE)) under contract number DOLJ089626792. The requirement is for revision of the IUOE programs provided at Job Corps centers to include green training as follows: 1.Production of a pre-determined number of green graduates by June 30, 2010 targeting at employment with registered apprenticeship programs or other construction firms through IUOE’s nationwide connections to unions and other employers in the construction industry. 2.Development and implementation of green Training Achievement Records (TARs) for the four specialty areas that IUOE is contracted to teach: Heavy Equipment Operator, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Paving, and Stationary Engineering. The green TARs include a new “Green Awareness” module, new green theory and practices, and highlighting existing TAR line items that are already green in nature. All the green elements must be based on applicable green skills and/or training standards sponsored by nationally-recognized industry or labor accreditation entities. 3.Potential establishment of a Heavy Equipment Operator program in the Philadelphia Region. 4.Provision of new instructional materials, equipment, tools, and consumable supplies in support of the above-referenced green TARs. 5.Instructor training for green technology instruction and their attainment of relevant green certifications. 6.Any potential and additional funding area for IUOE in support of green to be agreed to by IUOE and the U.S. Department of Labor.
