- The U.S. Army, Joint Munitions & Lethality Contracting Center, on behalf ofthe U.S. Army ARDEC and the The Vehicle Protection Group at Picatinny Arsenal,NJ is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources to procure 35Abrams Reactive Armor Tiles (ARAT) trainer sets, this is 2,170 individualtiles. There are 62 tiles per set. The ARAT Trainers will be used fortesting and training on an Abrams Vehicle. These tiles will need to be madeper the Government Technical Data Package to be provided. The tiles also needto be packaged per Government Packaging drawings to be provided. Potentialvendors shall confirm the product baseline, including shipping and markingdefinition to support the key training particulars identified by theGovernment. The tiles will be made of cold rolled steel and the internalweight shall be made of low cost hot rolled steel and be laser processed toconform to the government provided technical data for these parts. Thesetiles will be made to be the same size, weight and shape as the operationaltiles in the field but will not contain any explosive material.Firms/companies are invited to indicate their capabilities by providingspecifications, brochures, manuals, reports, demonstration video and othertechnical data as well as identification of current customers and roughindication of pricing. Any pricing data should be sent, if available and at nocost to the U.S. Government. NO LATER THAN 16 JULY 2009: Interested companies are requested to submit acapabilities statement of 2-5 pages via e-mail within 16 days of this notice.Interested firms should also provide their address, point-of-contact withtelephone number, e-mail address, and type of business (Small Business, LargeBusiness, 8a Small Business, Hubzone Small Business, Service Disabled VeteranSmall Business). This is a market survey for information only and shall not be construed as arequest for a proposal or as an obligation on the part of the U.S.Government. The U.S. Government does not intend to award a contract on thebasis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited.
