Description
Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Natick Contracting Division, 1 Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army-Soldier Systems Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a contract on a sole source basis with AJH & Associates, Inc. 293 Love Lane, Wall, NJ 07719-9310, for the upgraded Collin Teach-Line extruder and blown film unit that will enable materials engineers to process sophisticated, multi-functional flexible films to exploit emerging technologies in the area of nanotechnology and high barrier polymers for combat ration packaging applications. The upgrade includes: flat film line extruder with an expanded die (250 mm die), chill roll, edge slitter and roll off device. The features that are specific to this equipment and that are not available from other manufacturers include: a coextruder flat film die of 250 mm that can readily be integrated into the existing system; 20 mm x 25 D length extruder that can readily be integrated into the current system; and a control system that can readily be integrated into the current system. The control is an embedded control that contains a micro processor as user interface with LCD display, which is specifically designed for this equipment. This will be integrated into the existing control system, which will significantly save time and overall cost. Nothing herein should be misconstrued as a request for proposal.
