- Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Natick Contracting Division, 1 Kansas Street, Natick, MA on behalf of the United States Army-Soldier Systems Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a contract on a sole source basis with Catherine F. Capone of 200 Red Acre Rd. Stow, MA 01775-1138. The contractor shall be performing tests to characterize the flammability properties of various materials in support of several programs. Primary responsibility will be to run the Pyrolysis Combustion Flow Calorimeter (FCFC) and the Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) Chamber; however, the contractor may be required to conduct other testing on the Thermal Barrier Test Apparatus (TBTA) or Vertical Flame Chamber depending on demand. The contractor has been responsible for all testing conducted to-date on the PCFC which Natick acquired in 2007. She has worked with the manufacturing representatives both in England and the US and the FAA to develop techniques and procedures to determine the flammability characteristics of materials using this highly specialized piece of equipment. Nothing herein should be misconstrued as a request for proposal. No solicitation document is available.
