Description
This project involves realigning the Indian Springs Road, National Forest System Road (NFSR) #70501. Its’ is located on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District approximately 35 miles south of Heber City and 25 miles east of Spanish Fork, Utah. On the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The new road will be 1.9 miles long with an alignment placed in an upland location just to the east of Strawberry Ridge. (See Exhibit “A”) It will be a single lane (14 feet wide running surface, a 16 foot sub-grade width) with 10 foot wide turnouts. The entire road, including turnouts, will be surfaced with a commercially produced, graded, crushed aggregate surface course at a compacted depth of 6”. The new alignment will be flagged in by the engineer and turnouts shall be identified in the field and approved by the engineer. The road prism shall be crowned at a minimum of 2% where ditches are to be constructed leading to drainage structures or out sloped at a minimum of 2% in locations where no ditches shall be constructed Road construction shall be accomplished as a composite structure including all clearing, grubbing and road construction to create the road makeup. All in-stream work and any work in the immediate vicinity of live streams shall be conducted after July 1. Access to this project site can be achieved from both the north side and the south side. Coming from the north the access is achieved by turning south off SR 40 onto National Forest Service Road (NFSR) # 70131 or the “West Side Strawberry Road”. This junction is approximately 22 miles south and east of Heber City, Utah on State Route 40. At milepost 12.5 along NFSR 70131 take the junction south onto NFSR 70042 or the “Indian Creek/Unicorn Ridge Road” and travel approximately 5 miles to the junction of the project road leading west. Coming from the south the access is achieved by turning off State Route 6 or Spanish Fork Canyon Rd. onto the NFSR 70051 or “Sheep Creek Road”. This junction is approximately 21 miles from Spanish Fork City, Utah. Travel along the Sheep Creek Road for approximately 7.1 miles and turn south onto NFSR 70042 “Indian Creek/Unicorn Ridge Road”.
