Description
Notice of Intent Ref # 2009-70909 The Coordinating Center for Infections Diseases (CCID), Division of Tuberculosis Elimination (DTBE),of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price contract, in accordance with FAR Part 13, using simplified acquisition procedures, to the Tropical Disease Foundation, 136 Amorsolo corner P. Gamboa Sts., Legaspi Village, Makati City, 1299 Philippines. The Tropical Disease Foundation will deliver an 18-month Preserving Effective TB Treatment Study (PETTS) in Manila, the Philippines. The purpose of the action is to secure the services of the Tropical Disease Foundation to obtain serial M.tuberculosis cultures and associated clinical data from patients undergoing treatment for multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB) cultures and associated clinical data from patients undergoing treatment for MDR TB through the Tropical Disease Foundation multidrug-resistant tuberculosis treatment program. The information and material to be acquired under this contract will enable DTBE to determine the frequency of acquired drug resistance during treatment of MDR TB in the Philippines. The information and material shall be provided to DTBE from July 2009 through December 2010.The Tropical Disease Foundation appears to be the only organization that can provide the services to meet all the program requirements being that they are the only MDR TB treatment program in the Philippines and they are approved by the national and regional authorities, it is the only organized MDR TB treatment program with legal authority and responsibility for providing medical care to MDR TB patients. No Request for Quotes (RFQ) will be issued based upon this Notice of Intent.
