- Synopsis Solicitation Number AG-04M3-S-09-8114 Response Date: July 24, 2009 Solicitation Issue Date: June 24, 2009 NAICS: 113310 Logging, 500 employees MEDICAL SPRINGS STEWARDSHIP CONTRACT ON THE WALLOWA-WHITMAN NATIONAL FOREST The Medical Springs Stewardship Contract is located on the La Grande Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. Medical Springs Stewardship Contract includes the area adjacent to private lands adjacent to state Highway 203 and approximately 2 miles north of the community of Medical Springs. It includes National Forest lands within the Medical Springs Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) as identified by the National Fire Plan as a high priority area for vegetation and fuels treatments. Treatments are designed to modify surface, ladder and crown fuels thereby reducing flame length, crown fire and spotting potential associated with fire behavior, and to improve forest health through a combination of vegetation treatment work, primarily thinning and fuels reduction. To accomplish this objective, the contract includes the components of timber removal with helicopter and ground base logging methods, road reconstruction and maintenance, stand cleaning/thinning, pruning and piling of slash/fuels. Access across private land is limited to the contract work site. The resultant contract will be firm-fixed price task order service contract with provisions for timber removal. The solicitation will be available on or about June 24, 2009. NOTE: Portions of the project area are accessed through private lands with Rental Agreements and are shown on the contract map as PV1, PV2, PV3, PV4 and PV5. Keep all gates closed. A pre-proposal conference will be scheduled. It is anticipated this conference will be held on or around July 14, 2009. The solicitation will identify the exact date, time and location.
