Description
Project Description The entire work for this contract consists of dredging three locations as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). All ARRA funds must be expended by 30 September 2010. The first location of work, Part 1, consists of dredging Hoskins Creek Channel and Turning Basin to a depth of 10 feet below Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) with 1 foot of allowable overdepth. Total estimated amount of material to be dredged, including allowable overdepth, is 59,200 cubic yards. The dredged materials shall be placed in the designated government furnished upland placement area only. The Contractor shall anticipate the placement area to be in sufficient condition for placement of dredged material, however, the Contractor shall be required to make all corrections to the placement area and maintain the dikes and drainage structures during the scheduled work. Due to environmental permit restrictions, dredging shall not be performed between March 1 and June 30. All work must be completed and accepted at the Hoskins Creek location before moving to the next location. The next location of work, Part 2, consists of maintenance dredging the Queens Creek Channel to a depth of 7 feet MLLW plus 1 foot of allowable overdepth. Total estimated amount of material to be dredged, including allowable overdepth, is 26,400 cubic yards of mostly sandy material. The Contractor will be required to use two Government-furnished beach placement sites in proximity to the areas to be dredged. The distance from the areas to be dredged to the beach placement site ranges from approximately 1,200 to 2,000 feet. Material shall be dredged, transported, and placed on the beach by hydraulic dredge and pipeline. Dredged material shall be uniformly placed on the beach and the beach finish graded. All work must be completed and accepted at the Queens Creek location before moving to the next location. The next location of work, Part 3, consists of maintenance dredging the Winter Harbor Channel by hydraulic pipeline method. The Channel shall be dredged to a depth of 7 feet MLLW with 1 foot of allowable overdepth. Total estimated amount of material to be dredged, including allowable overdepth and estimated accretion, is 70,300 cubic yards of mostly sandy material. The contractor shall place the dredged material from the Channel along the 4500 feet of Winter Harbor beach North of the dredging area. Due to environmental permit restrictions, dredging shall not be performed between June 1 and November 30. Line Item 0001 Maintenance Dredging Hoskins Creek Begin performance within 15 calendar days and complete all work within 75 calendar days of receipt of Notice To Proceed (NTP). Line Item 0002 Maintenance Dredging Queens Creek Begin performance within 15 calendar days and complete all work within 60 calendar days of receipt of Notice To Proceed (NTP).
