- FBO ANNOUNCEMENT: COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION ACTION CODE: CLASSIFICATION CODE: J - MAINTENANCE - REPAIR AND REBUILDING OF EQUIPMENT SUBJECT: AGILENT NANOINDENTER MOTION ASSEMBLY REPAIR SOLICITATION NUMBER: NB861060-9-05393 RESPONSE DATE: June 11, 2009, 4:00:00 PM (EST) CONTACT POINTS: Mary Alice Powe, Contracting Officer, (301) 975-8567 The Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate a Firm Fixed Price Purchase Order on a Sole Source basis under other than full and open competition by the authority of FAR Subpart 13.106(b); with Agilent Technologies, Nanomechanics Instruments Operations (NOI), Oak Ridge, TN 37830 for the repair of Agilent Nonoindenter (DCM-Z Motion Assembly Repair). Sole Source determination is based on the following: Agilent Technologies is the manufacturer of the Agilent Nanoindenter; therefore, repairs performed by any other vendor would violate the current warranted equipment. The Agilent Nanoindexter is located in the BFRL at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, Maryland is broken and is in need of repair to perform mission essential functions. The XP does not have a stable or within specification harmonic contact stiffness in air before an intent. It ranges between +450 N/m to 1000 N/m The period of performance for this product shall be within ten (1) days after receipt of the purchase order. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 334515. No solicitation package will be issued. The notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond ot his requirement. The Government will consider responses received by 1:00 PM (EST) on June 11, 2009. Inquiries will only be accepted via email to maryalice.powe@nist.gov. No telephone requests will be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future.
