The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is seeking sources for a visible region reflectance color measurement Spectrophotometer. This is a SOURCES SOUGHT announcement only; solicitations are not available at this time. Request for a solicitation will not receive a response. This notice does not constitute a commitment by the Government. The BEP is interested in an instrument that could do the following: (1) Measure the visible spectrum of: Paper or ink printed on paper. The reflectance sample shall be held in place by a clip, a spring, or a weight. (2) The wavelength should include 400 to 700 nanometers. The instrument must be able to display the visible spectrum (400 to 700 nanometers)-and then determine quantifiable parameters of the visible spectrum e.g. in CIE = L*(lightness) a* (red-green), b*(yellow-blue) color values. (3) Capabilities of instrument, to measure reflectance. Requirements: Xenon lamp Dual beam Integrating sphere Spectral bandpass 10 nanometers Spectral reflectance included Spectral reflectance excluded Traceable calibration tiles calculate CIE L*, a*, b* Color difference calculation (Delta E) Large Reflectance port Small Reflectance port A method to see the illuminated reflectance sample in the port A computer interface A printer interface. The BEP is not currently anticipating the purchase of any particular equipment. The BEP will review all submitted literature and the approximate price. All interested parties should provide brochures, specification sheets, drawings, and any other documents which best describe the equipment.
