- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for maintenance of Axcelis middle current, voltagemachine that is installed in the Detector Development Laboratory.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Axcelis only. This tool is fundamental forthe development and manufacture of semiconductor devices. It is imperative that we keepthis equipment operational with minimum down time as most of our projects depend on it. This semiconductor tool uses many custom made parts that have to be calibrated andapproved by Axcelis. To our knowledge Axcelis is the only source for technicalassistance and custom made parts that will meet the requirement for this customequipment. Also to maintain integrity and reliability of the system, we need to replacecomponents and parts with manufacturer recommended replacements and calibration.Authority is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) Only one responsible source.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.This procurement will be processed using FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures.This synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will theGovernment pay for the information solicited.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon June 16, 2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
