Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE PROCUREMENT FOR A MEDIUM RANGE LEICA ABSOLUTE TRACKER COORDINATE METROLOGY SYSTEM. The Naval Research Laboratory intends to award a contract on the basis of less than full-and-open competition to Hexagon Metrology, Inc. for an Absolute Tracker Coordinate Metrology System, which shall include a Leica AT901-MR Absolute Tracker, a laptop computer with PC-DMIS metrology software, and a system cart. The required system will be used to support present and future rocket and satellite projects that require precise metrology of the instrument hardware. The required equipment is a laser tracker system that measures three-dimensional coordinates very accurately over large distances by tracking a laser beam to a retro-reflective target held in contact with the object of interest. It is the Government's intention that the required system will be functionally and operationally compatible with one or more portable articulating arm coordinate measurement machines to form an integrated metrology system for assembly and integration of space flight instrumentation. The required system shall operate as an absolute distance interferometer, with both the absolute distance meter (ADM) and the laser interferometer (IFM) measuring devices running simultaneously using a common laser beam path to provide redundancy of measurement. Vendors who feel capable of providing the supplies stated above shall fully identify their interests and submit written data or other verifiable documentation that demonstrates conclusively the capabilities of their proposed equipment to meet the stated requirements within 15 days after publication of this synopsis. Responses received after 15 days or without the required documentation will be determined non-responsive to the synopsis, and will not be considered.
