- Description
- The U.S. Army has a requirement to procure 249 Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Wiring Harness Kits to update the existing MLRS M270A1, APU. As part of the APU modification, an APU Fuel Pump was added to the M270A1 Carrier to bring fuel to the APU. The internal fuel pump wiring controls in the APU Governor Box resulted in the following false indications: with the Vehicle Master Power Switch at the ENGINE ON position, the APU Fuel Pump will continue to provide fuel to the engine even if the APU is not operating; in addition, the Fuel Pump Warning Lights cannot discriminate between the two vehicle Fuel Pumps, and as a result, the MLRS Fuel Pump Tester will give inaccurate readings. To alleviate the APU Fuel Pump run-on, a new diode cable will be added inside the APU. APU Diode Cable Fix Kits (57K6628) shall include, 12520244 Installation Instructions for the APU Diode Cable Fix, 12517450 Cable, Diode, APU Fan (4W32), and 12517451 Cable, APU Signal (4W33). This modification is necessary to alleviate inaccurate readings by the APU.
