- Description
- Scott Mnt White bark Pine Release and Slash on the Boise National Forest. Solicitation will be posted o/a May 26. This project will increase the growth and vigor of whitebark pine and facilitate the natural regeneration of this species. Several different release treatments will be implemented under this contract including: Modified Release, Full Release 10 and Full release 14. These treatments will be thoroughly described in the technical specifications section of the solicitation and shall include a number of activities that include: cutting, girdling, grubbing, lopping, bucking, scattering, and hand piling subalpine fir and lodge pole pine. Estimated start date is July 15, 2009 The project area is located approximately 10 air miles northwest of Lowman, Idaho. The area is located at some of the higher elevations on the Boise National Forest ranging from 7,200 ft to 8,200 feet. The weather conditions at these elevations can be quite variable with strong winds and precipitation making difficult working conditions during the early and late summer months. These elevations can also be a comfortable working environment during the hottest summer months.
