- Description
- This is a modification to the synopsis entitled Development of a Hypothesis BrowserPrototype which was posted on May 19, 2009. The due date for responses is not extended. The following details are hereby added to the original synopsis:NASA/ARC has a requirement to develop a prototype of a web-based Hypothesis Browser. Thesystem will support browsing, entering, storing, editing, organizing, and searchingscientific hypotheses, along with associated arguments, evidence statements, researchliterature citations, scientist profiles, and commentary. NASA investigators have developed initial requirements for a Hypothesis Browser system, including an OWL-based ontology describing important entities, attributes, relationships, and constraints to be supported by the system. The work to be performed involvesdesigning and implementing a working prototype system that demonstrates the feasibilityand efficacy of the Hypothesis Browser concept. The Hypothesis Browser is to be developed using open source components for delivery via astandard web browser. The system is intended to be a Web 2.0 style application, with thegoal of considerable community involvement and active participation by scientificcommunity members in contributing web site content and posting comments. In theHypothesis Browser, evidence statements will be ranked heuristically and displayed tousers according to one or more schemes to be developed. Users will link hypotheses to oneanother based on the nature of their interrelationship. The offerer will design two orthree candidate web-based user interfaces to support these capabilities and will workwith NASA to select the best option for implementation. Interface usability is a keyrequirement. All responses shall provide specific and compelling evidence explaining why theorganization has the technical capability to perform this requirement and how the statedschedule and budget constraints can be met. Examples of previous similar work may bereferenced. All other information posted initially is unchanged.Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. Thesedocuments will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWWbrowser application.
