Description
THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY UNDER THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT PROGRAM. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), Division of Viral Diseases, Epidemiology Branch intends to procure data on trends in herpes zoster incidence in Olmsted County, Minnesota during 1945-1959 and 1980-2007, to make it possible to monitor the impact of the varicella and zoster vaccine programs. CDC intends to procure this data from the Olmsted Medical Center, Rochester, Minnesota under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Olmsted County offers unique advantages as a site for conducting population-based research of herpes zoster. More than 92% of its residents have provided authorization to use their records in medical research. Medical information for approximately 125,000 residents can therefore be followed across all hospitals, emergency departments, offices and outpatient surgery centers within the county, with visit-specific diagnostic and procedural information warehoused within a database and linked back to their care facility. This unique set up was established many decades ago by Olmsted Medical Center and represents a unique dataset in which to study herpes zoster trends since 1945. CDC does not have knowledge of any other available dataset of this sort. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 541712 Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Science (except Biotechnology) and the Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees. This is not a request for competitive proposals, nor is a solicitation available. This notice is provided for informational purposes under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Program. Any firm that believes it can furnish the items described above is encouraged to give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 15 days of the date of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action, based on responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Please email any questions concerning this notice to Amanda Haynes at Ahaynes@cdc.gov.
