Description
(RECOVERY ACT) The National Institute on Aging, NIA/IRP, intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a competitive basis for the purchase of the following equipment under Simplified Acquisition procedures. This notice may represent the only official notice. The National Institute on Aging requires the following equipment: 1.Qty 1 set; IgTIRFM-170 Light guide-based Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence Microscopy w/accessories2.Qty 1 set; pTIRFM prism-based Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence Microscopy flow system The Laboratory of Cardiovascular Science (LCS) at the National Institute on Aging, will use this specialized equipment which will enable the Lab to adapt their advanced optical microscope to have capabilities to perform the research currently not possible with the existing confocal microscopy equipment. Specifically, this specialized equipment will be used to image/index the orientation and motion of single molecular clusters that form molecular motors using polarized excitation and polarized emission TIRF microscopy. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice is a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received prior to 06/01/2009 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This is a solicitation for noncommercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 16.2 using competitive procedures. These procedures include those identified under Subparts 6.1, 6.2 (Full and Open Competition and Full and Open Competition after Exclusions of Sources), and FAR Section 16.505(b) (1). The solicitation number is NIHAG2009067 and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). This solicitation document and incorporated provisions clauses are those in which the FAR has amended to incorporate for use in Recovery Act actions FAR Subpart 5.7 for pre-solicitation and award notices. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 334516 and the business size standard is 500. Only electronic offers will be accepted.
