- BITTERROOT NATIONAL FOREST, DARBY RANGER DISTRICT, TRAPPER HART BURNT STEWARDSHIP. The Western Montana Acquisition Zone anticipates awarding a stewardship contract for work on the Darby Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest. The Trapper Hart Burnt Stewardship project is primarily a fuels reduction project with sawtimber and biomass removal from approximately 1400 acres. Contract work includes the removal of both sawtimber and non-sawtimber of various species, and approximately 3 miles of road reconditioning. Estimated Sawtimber volume is 4.7 million board feet. Estimated non-sawtimber volume is 1.2 million board feet. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be posted on this website on approximately June 8, 2009. A pre-proposal conference and site visit is planned for 9:00 A.M. on June 18, 2009 at the Darby Ranger District Office at 712 N. Main St in Darby, MT. Contractors interested in attending the pre-proposal conference & site visit should RSVP to Contracting Officer Loren Ebner (406-329-3858) by June 17th. Contractors will be responsible for their own transportation and personal protective equipment for the field visit.
