- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to SP Industries, Inc., 815 State Route 208, Gardiner, NY 12525, for an ADPEL2 Advantage Plus freeze dryer (with two production-style fluid-cooled 10"x14" heated product shelves with shelf temperature range from -70C to +60C, four product probes included and also two PETG plastic product trays, shelf interdistance is 2.88", complete with 4 patented ¾" Quickeal valves for attaching a variety of ampoules, vials and flasks, condenser coil will hold a total of six liters before defrosting, low temperature of -85C includes VBS, with Wizard 2.0 micro processor-based control system, CFC free), a 65E Leybold 2.5E vacuum pump (65 LPM, 2 stage w/gas ballast), a 414203 oil mist eliminator and adapater to fit Leybold vacuum pump, an SC stoppering configuration (uses pneumatic top-down stoppering platen to compress shelves from the top down for stoppering vials under vacuum using 60psi of gas), six (6) trays, part 351999, and a removable bottom stainless steel tray (10" x 14") for the Special Pathogens Branch. Purchase includes set-up, demo, and training at no charge. This equipment will be used to help maintain stocks of Hemorrhagic Fever virus stocks for diagnostic reagent production and basic research presently kept in liquid nitrogen freezers. For equipment to properly achieve requirements of Special Pathogens Branch, freeze dryer must achieve -85 degree Centrigrade and shelf temperature must achieve -70 degree Centigrade.CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 6.302-2. Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued.
