Description
The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) intends to issue a sole source procurement to Ventana Medical Systems, 1910 E. Innovation Park Drive, Tucson, AZ, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This procurement is for a combination support/maintenance/training agreement for Ventana-brand Histology instruments (stainers): 1) Benchmark LT (full system); 2) Benchmark (full system); 3) Special Stains (module); and 4) Benchmark XT (module). An authorized Ventana Service Representative is required to provide service and repair of the instruments. A customer-service telephone number will bring VA Pittsburgh in contact with a Ventana representative who will either provide instructions to the biomedical engineer on how to repair or dispatch an authorized Ventana representative to repair or replace the instruments. Preventative maintenance is also included in the agreement. In addition, this procurement will also include training for one VAPHS biomedical engineer with annual re-certification by Ventana. It is the belief of the Government that there is currently only one responsible source capable of providing this equipment to satisfy the agency requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification, accompanied by supporting evidence in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements, to the contracting officer by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 All responses must be in writing via e-mail to Michelle.Urso@med.va.gov. If no responses are received, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System will proceed with the sole source procurement from Ventana Medical Systems.
