Description
The Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), has a requirement for the fabrication/installation of a cabin top safety rail, access for rescue boat/life raft and installation of safety gear for the R/V Turning Tide. The vessel is 53 feet in length with a 17 foot beam; the main width is at the bow flair, the cabin is plywood/fiberglass. The propulsion unit is twin 450 hp Cummins diesel motors. The vessel operates around the Point of Bonita; line of demarcation inland through the Sacramento, CA/San Joaquin Delta, CA. The Government anticipates award of a commercial, firm-fixed-price type purchase order. The procurement is anticipated to include a period of performance of 06/08/2009 through 07/31/2009. The request for quote and any documents related to this procurement will be available on the internet on or about 05/18/2009. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site for the release of the request for quote and amendments (if any). A formal request for quote, statement of work, and technical exhibits are not available for release at this time.This requirement is being issued as a total small business set-aside. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 336611, Ship Building and Repairing and the Size Standard is 1000 Employees. There is not an incumbent contractor. Full or partial funding for requirements to be completed by resultant contract award(s) may utilize funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Inclusion of unique provisions required to implement the Act, including those for significant reporting and transparency requirements by the successful offeror(s), will be required in any resultant contract.All questions and concerns may be submitted to the Contracting Officer via email at vfriesner@usgs.gov.
