Description
This project shall consist of the installation of two earthen ditch plugs, two culvert plugs, one steel vertical sheet pile ditch plug and all associated components. The project is located in the town of Whiting Vermont, approximately 1 mile east of Whiting Village. Access to the site is off the Leicester Whiting Road along approximately 1 mile of farm access road. The construction site is located in an approximate 50 acre abandoned pasture. The soils are mapped as predominately Muck and Peat, with the planned borrow area being mapped as Covington Clay. This project will require a Construction Stormwater Permit from the Vermont DEC which has been obtained by NRCS. Selected contractor shall be added to the permit as a co-permittee, as required by these storm water regulations. Construction shall be done in accordance with “The Low Risk Site Handbook for Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control” by VT DEC. The culvert plugs consist of installing temporary formwork or earthen berms so flowable fill can be placed to completely fill the culvert. The earthen ditch plugs consist of plugging existing drainage ditches that are 4 to 5 feet deep and about 18 feet wide. These drainage ditches are typically dry during the summer months. The borrow material shall be hauled from the designated borrow area, which is approximately 1000 feet from the farthest ditch plug. The one sheet pile ditch plug consists of installing approximately 48 lineal feet of steel sheet pile with a 28’ weir notch. This plug is located in a larger existing drainage ditch that typically has standing water in it. A sheet pile cap is required. Rock riprap shall be placed on the downstream side of the structure. Performance time is estimated to be 21 days and anticipated to begin in mid-July. Complete solicitation package will be available on or about May 22, 2009. Estimated Price range: between $100,000 and $250,000. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (07-MAY-2009); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
