- Description
- The intent of this project is to repair the north edge of Road West of Bldg 441, on Arguello Blvd in VAFB, CA. This project is based on improving storm water drainage, and widening the roadway to reduce heavy equip breaking off the edge of pavement, which causes storm water to seep through the cracks. Also the widen part of the road will carry an asphalt berm to control the drainage. Contractor will repair the existing east side of the road at the turn by over excavating the shoulder of the road and keying in the area to stabilize the sub-grade below and restore the over side drain. The over side drain will consist of keying in a stabilized sub-grade for an erosion control stabilization fabric installation with rip rap on it. Once stabilization has been achieved 3 new asphalt aprons that will tie in with the over side drain to collect the upper steep grade water drainage, one will be installed at the turn of the road and 2 at the low point indicated on attached map. The widen asphalt shoulder will vary, and will be excavated at a depth of 12" and marifi 600 fabric installed as required. Some asphalt & sub-grade material will be removed and replaced due to failures in the sub-grade transferring to the failure of the asphalt.
