This request is to find innovative ways of lining a potable water line with minimal or no resource damage. Approximately 4,000 linear feet of this main distribution line is buried in fragile alpine backcountry. The existing potable water line is 6-inch cement-lined cast steel, installed in 1984. The numerous cracks or breaks in the pipe are a serious health concern because of possible infiltration by bacteria. The cement causes the pH to rise and, therefore, makes the chlorine used to treat the water less effective. The potable water system for the Sunrise area is supplied from a dammed lake at elevation 6700 feet. The lake is fed by melted snow. This request is to find innovative ways of lining the potable water line with minimal resource damage. Please provide information of how the company would line the potable water line that would stop the leaks, with minimal or no resource damage, increase the effectiveness of chlorine, providing a better, more reliable water supply to the visitor and employees. The Government will use responses to this SOURCES SOUGHT announcement to make appropriate acquisition decisions.
