Description

The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division Lakehurst intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source basis with ABB, Inc., of Norwalk, CT to repair and recommission the Static VAR Compensator (SVC), installed at the Naval Air Engineering Station, Lakehurst, NJ in order to return the system to operational condition. The EMALS equipment that accepts input power from the electrical grid may require the SVC to prevent excess equipment and cable overheating, as well as an excessive voltage drop. The Navy intends to procure this effort under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 c(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1. Firms that believe they can satisfy this requirement are encouraged to identify themselves. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which may be considered by the Navy in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Navy not to open the requirement to competition based upon the response(s) to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Navy. A solicitation is not available for this procurement. Responses should be received within 15 days of publication of this notice.
