Description
US Army, Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions & Lethality ContractingCenter is seeking potential entities with experience in fire control, radar, and radar integrated real-time communications between a ground based radar and in-flight projectiles. This effort will support further development of a 50mm Projectile for the Extended Area Protection and Survivability Program (EAPS). A proof of principle concept has been demonstrated to date. The technology to be matured and demonstrated in the next phase is a 50mm projectile w/gun-hardened transceiver which receives command guidance and detonation commands at fixed stand-offs from the incoming threat, a radar capable of tracking multiple incoming threat targets, and multiple outgoing interceptors with the necessary communications link to these in-flight interceptors. The fire control for the gun/turret system and command authority for the outgoing interceptors is required. Four major elements of the envisioned developmental program and system are; gun system (each gun capable of launching 200 interceptors per minute), 50mm projectile (interceptor), fire control radar w/command link, and turret with associated drives. This announcement pertains to the fire control radar w/command link elements of the system. Selected entities will be required to work with entities developing other elements of the system. Responses should address concept, maturity of hardware, live fire testing of components, subsystems and systems, as well as developmental costs. Hardware and capabilities demonstrated to date should also be contained within the submission. An integrated Fire Control/Radar subsystem solution should address the following requirements, some of which have been determined via simulation and or testing to date. -Fire Control Radar w/Integrate Communication Capability: Requirements of the EAPS program are to track up to ten (10) outgoing interceptors and multiple incoming threats. The radar system must also have a communications capability to provide command divert/detonation to the outgoing interceptors. Demonstrated capabilities to date for the communication link were 300Kb/sec telemetry and survivability to > 50kGs. The telemetry and command link electronics have been allocated a max diameter of 28.7 mm and 23.6 mm length. Incoming threats include but are not limited to 155mm artillery and mortars. -Search Detection and Cueing: Either a capability of the fire control radar (desirable), or a handoff from an alternate search / cueing radar, range TBD -Engagement intercept ranges: 300m min to 1500m maximum. -Development of fire control solutions for gun/turret system -Development of command/control authority algorithms for the single course correction of the outgoing interceptors -Development of 2.5 meter interceptor to target detonation range, accuracy < 0.5m -Rate of Fire: 400 rounds/minute, a maximum burst of ten (10) rounds per threat -Tracking Accuracy: For both incoming threats and out-going interceptors 0.3 mil at 20dB SNR has been used in simulation and met requirements. All responding sources must submit their responses no later than 14 May 2009 to U.S. Army, Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions & Lethality Contracting Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. Please submit via E-mail to christina.nigro@us.army.mil. Large files need to be compressed using WinZip (http://www.winzip.com). This market survey is for information and planning purposes only; it does not constitute a formal solicitation, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government.
