- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Philadelphia intends to procure on a competitive basis the design and fabrication of a set of two (2) composite submarine camels that will be used for the safe mooring of US Navy submarines. Note that this procurement is a deign/build in which the contractor furnished design will become the property of the government and will be used for future procurement. Delivery is required 540 days after contract award. The solicitation shall be issued as a 100% Small Business Set Aside. SIC Code 332312. Number of employees 500. Solicitation shall open approximately15 May 2009 and close 14 June 2009. The submarine camels will provide the requisite separation distance between the design vessels and the berthing structure face, and the energy absorbing fender system required for the submarine's berthing and mooring forces. All responsible small business concerns are encouraged to submit proposals to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Philadelphia, 5001 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19112-1403. The solicitation will be issued electronically via the NECO website.
