Description
Responses are due no later than 2:00 p.m. central standard time May 20, 2009. This is a Sources Sought Notice and is for informational purposes only. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS OR BIDS. The U.S.A.F. AEDC requests capability statements from potential sources identifying the dimensions (ID, OD, Elbow Radii, etc.) of components that could be offered concerning the process pipe system described below. Responses to this sources sought announcement will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. NO SOLICITATION IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. MARKET RESEARCH IS BEING CONDUCTED to identify potential suppliers of raw material will be used in modification of a 4000 psia process system that operates at temperatures from ambient down to -100 degrees Fahrenheit. The raw material includes high pressure, low temperature piping (approx 300 linear feet), and related components such as long radius elbows (5 each), short radius elbows (2 each), tees (1 each), weld-o-lets (8 each), hubs and flanges (four sets). This SA350-LF3 is the anticipated specification for carbon and low-alloy steel forgings, requiring notch toughness testing for piping components. SA333 is the anticipated specification for seamless and welded steel pipe for low-temperature service. The system will be of welded construction using the licensed Grey-Loc flange design. The size required is nominally 16 inch OD Schedule 160 (1.593 wall thickness). Variations in size are acceptable as long as all pipe, elbows, and hubs have the same inside diameter of nominally 13 inches with wall thickness complying with the ASME PV&BC. Section 8, Division 1. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO SOLICITATION IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The information requested above is needed to complete the design for high pressure, low temperature piping and components in an efficient and timely manner. The raw material needed for the project is not COTS and it is anticipated that suppliers will have existing tooling suitable for manufacturing components meeting the requirements. Many factors are involved in the cost effective design solution and knowledge of industry capabilities in terms of specific dimensional characteristics of pipe and components that can be provided by different suppliers will facilitate an efficient design process and minimize the procurement process thereby reducing project risk.
