Description

The OIG maintains its own secure network using the same types of systems and software as PBGC, following all established standards where they do not impact OIG independence. This includes such services as Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange for email, Blackberry communication devices and server, MS SQLServer, 2 Domain Controllers, Tape Backup Library, and its own communication switches and firewall. This setup is closely duplicated in a second site for Continuity of Operations purposes. Additionally, the OIG maintains its own website with links to the PBGC website along with Internet access independent of PBGC. For desktop management, the OIG uses laptop computers using Microsoft XP operating system with the Microsoft OfficeSuite. Access to OIG systems and/or PBGC applications can be accomplished either locally from the office or remotely from any work location. The work described herein is considered highly technical in nature. The new Contractor will take over the support of the standard services related to implementing, maintaining, and administering the OIG set of systems and applications through both desktop and network management to both its federal employees and contractors.
