Description
SOURCES SOUGHT FORM This is a SOURCES SOUGHT notice. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, is seeking potential firms that have the capability to provide construction services as part of a project that shall include, but not be limited to the upgrade of the Inpatient Psychiatric Facility at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Battle Creek, Michigan. Required work involves the repair of ceilings, floors and walls finishes. The replacement of all interior doors and corrections of doors swings on patient rooms, the replacement of corridor handrails, bumper rails and corner guards, the installation of video surveillance throughout area, the relocation of thermostats from patient rooms to ductwork, the renovation of 2,600 square feet of space in the basement for recreation therapy, the construction of a new visitor entryway from the basement level and additional street side parking. In addition, the renovation and relocation of all first and second floor nurses stations, the renovation of all 1st and 2nd floor restrooms and showers, the installation of nurse call systems to shower and restroom areas, and the renovation of the existing courtyard is also included. The courtyard work will include the addition of volleyball and basketball courts, raised flower gardens (planters), gazebo, and walking path. Contractor will relocate and/or provide new systems, as needed, for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting and ceiling. The contract will have an 12 month completion requirement. The estimated award date of the contract is 1 August 2009. The estimated cost of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $3,000,000.00. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 236220, which has a size standard of $33.5 Million in average annual receipts. The project requires knowledge of hospital construction special needs and in particular the functions of an inpatient psychiatric facility. This is NOT a request for proposals. This announcement is for planning purposes only. In order to determine the extent of industry interest and experience in the requirement, interested contractors shall present the following information: a brief overview of the firm's capabilities including experience on construction projects similar in scope and cost magnitude to this program; and any socio-economic classification(s) (e.g., large business, small business, small disadvantaged business, etc.) as they relate to NAICS code 236220. Firms MUST submit a letter from their bonding company related to their bonding capacity for individual projects along with their letter of interest. Qualified companies are encouraged to respond. The response to this notice shall be in summary format and shall not exceed two (2) pages. Do NOT send a SF 330. No basis for claim against the Government shall arise as a result of a response to this sources sought or Government use of any information provided. The Government will not pay for information or comments provided and will not recognize any costs associated with submission of comments.
